When Cosentino was looking to partner with someone who shared the company’s values and focus on excellence, the family-owned surfaces manufacturer turned to Rafael Nadal, who had built his own impressive reputation on the world stage.
Massimo Ballucchi, Cosentino’s marketing director, explains the rationale. “As Nadal continued to win titles, we continued to expand and win awards for our products.”
This ideal match-up resulted in a state-of-the-art training academy in Nadal’s hometown in Mallorca. Featuring a luxe spa, hotel, and 27 courts, the facility was where Cosentino could showcase the versatility of its Dekton and Silestone products.

Catalan architect Enrique Iglesias outfitted the building with some 430,556 feet of Dekton in 14 colors, two of them custom, in various sizes and thicknesses throughout: pool and sauna areas, wall cladding, flooring, and staircases. Ultra-compact and nonporous, Dekton is designed to perform well in such high-traffic areas.
Because, as Iglesias says, Dekton “allows you to play with large dimensions,” he could mount the facade in one impressive vertical piece; the custom blue is Nadal’s signature color. For the main entrance, Iglesias used almost 2,300 square feet of Silestone in Negro Ochavo brush-hammered granite. Grays, walnuts, and wood colors in the suites foster contemplation after the day’s workout.

The spa called for something more lavish, so a burnished Dekton color, Trillium, was used. Anti-slip technology makes Dekton appropriate for rooms with wet surfaces. The bathrooms were a chance to showcase Cosentino’s Silestone: Some 130 quartz trays in Blanco Zeus grace the 100 or so countertops.

While Nadal dominates the tennis world with his 21 Grand Slams, Cosentino also has plenty to crow about as it was the first company to receive ISO 20400:2017 certification for sustainability.
