The historic city of Bordeaux, France, will host the first edition of BAD+ Bordeaux + Art + Design from May 5-8th, 2022. The venue for this ground-breaking art and design salon will be Hangar 14, the iconic industrial building on the banks of the Garonne River.
Conceived as an annual spring event, BAD+ is the brainchild of Jean-Daniel Compain and the Congrès Bordeaux along with Jill Silverman van Coenegrachts. As the site of this city-wide art initiative, Bordeaux has a long history of interaction with the arts and is home to several major museums, including Musée d’art Contemporain de Bordeaux (CAPC), the MÉCA, and the FRAC Aquitaine, or the Museum of Decorative Arts and Design. The port city is also designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site, further cementing its reputation as a cultural center dedicated to art de vivre, or the art of living.
Drawing on this rich history, BAD+ will highlight the connections between the act of artistic creation and the art of living and will not only bring together artists and gallery owners, but collectors as well. BAD+ will present artists whose work illustrates innovative ways of expression, honoring the link to the past, present, and future. Some 70 art and design galleries from around the world will be a part of this powerful initiative that aims to show how art and art de vivre can be forces of transformation in a world that is facing ever-changing economic and cultural challenges.
